Frames & Framing: Mitered:
FOR SMALL WORKS ON PAPER including drawings,
prints and photographs we usually recommend a 2"3" wide mat and 3/4" or
smaller frame, called a drawing frame. We offer online our two series
that include our most popular frames of this type.
Ruskin Series
The grandfather of the Arts and Crafts Movement, John Ruskin was not
only a great thinker but an excellent draftsman as well. This series named
for him particularly suits prints and drawings in the picturesque tradition.
While the basic design can be made to any size you like, for
smaller works we suggest 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4". Choose either the basic profile
unembellished, or for a light decorative touch, perhaps with a Gothic
feeling, one of the hand-carved versions. Made to order and entirely from
scratch. Recommended in quartersawn white oak, but available in all woods.
The basic Ruskin profile. Shown in widths 3/4",
5/8", 1/2".
Ruskin Carved
Shown: Outer: Ruskin 5/8" Carved Stopped Panel. Middle: Ruskin
1/2" Carved 3 Lines. Inner: Ruskin 5/8" Carved Gothic Leaf.

Shown: Flower 1, shown in 5/8" and 1/2".

Lemos Series
Very useful drawing frames, the basic Lemos has a hand-chiseled recessed
panel. The Stopped Panel Lemos is available with the recessed panel either
chiseled or flat. Made to order and entirely from scratch, these frames
are available in any wood. Used most often at 5/8" wide, for very small
pieces we go down to 1/2", and they can in fact be made at any width whatsoever.
Very popular in ebonized cherry, and on Japanese prints.
